This is Asda’s own brand energy drink and is very different to the old Blue Charge from a decade ago. Gone are the fancy ingredients of carrot and hibiscus and we’re just back to a regular list of artificial things of dubious origin. Similar to the Sainsbury’s own brand energy drink this is also like a bitter and less pleasant version of Red Bull, but it’s smooth and drinkable – go for the sugar free version though is my advice, it’s smoother.
I’m always apprehensive when trying a new energy shot. I know that they’re going to most likely be bitter and unpleasant. But… with those low expectations already set then sometimes you get a nice surprise. Ok, so this drink is definitely bitter and not a great taste, but the baseline is against other energy shots and this one was much nicer than average! The bitterness is tempered with a sweetness from the tropical flavouring, almost tangy in some respects and because of that you don’t get the usual lingering aftertaste from most shots. As energy shots go, this one’s ok I suppose!
Red Bull seem to be re-releasing all of their previous Winter and Summer editions as “The [insert colour here] Edition”. In this case we have 2020’s summer edition being released as 2025’s Red Edition. Not to be confused with 2013’s Red Edition which was cranberry flavoured. It’s all very confusing to keep up with especially for a reviewer of energy drinks – I have to keep a sharp eye out to spot a subtle change like this! Anyway, it’s a watermelon flavoured energy drink exactly the same as the 2020 summer edition – strong, sweet and a little bit sickly if I’m honest once you’ve got to the end of the can.

I’m assuming that this drink will help me drive really fast, and if combined with Monster’s Lewis Hamilton drink then all sorts of crazy shiz happens. Lando’s flavour is a very fresh and crisp melon flavour. As you would expect with any Monster drink, it’s extremely smooth and manages to balance sweetness with the tang of the fruit just right. Difficult to fault a Monster drink as usual!

It’s quite sickly, but very nice and extremely sweet. It’s undeniably a sugar-free drink, it has the usual mouthfeel from the sweeteners in it and that does detract somewhat from the strawberry flavouring. I am normally a fan of sugar-free drinks over the full fat versions but I reckon that this particular drink would have benefited from being full of sugar instead – I just think it would have been much nicer flavour-wise. As it is, it’s an easy going drink, very pleasant, would buy again, but could be improved.

It’s another peach drink for 2025! This one does actually taste like peach to be fair and isn’t specifying that’s it’s White Peach or anything. So just normal peach. The can has been branded for the music festival season and this one is “Reading & Leeds”. It’s reasonably sweet and refreshing, but there are better rockstar flavours out there. At least this one is sugar-free though unlike most of the other festival-branded Rockstar drinks I’ve found so far.

This particular Rockstar variety is branded for the ‘Creamfields’ festival and they’ve gone with a Tropical Guava flavour. I wouldn’t say it’s that tropical personally, it’s more like a fruity berry drink – there’s none of that normal tropical tang you would normally get from a tropical drink. It’s really nice, but it’s not tropical.
White peach energy drinks seems to be a trend for summer 2025 because this is the third one I’ve found so far this year. This particular one is quite tropical tasting overall and not that refreshing really, but it packs a huge amount of caffeine so when you’re that tweaked does being refreshing even matter?!

This is not your usual Monster concoction. It’s a fruity and smooth blend with a slight citrus twist to it and I can’t quite place the flavour… I *think* it might be strawberry lemonade, but there’s definitely more than just strawberry in there. Potentially a little bit of grapefruit for the tang? However you look at it, it’s a nice easy going drink in a very premium can complete with a textured surface and a cute cartoon design. A good flavour for the summer.
