Full On: Tropical and Guava
December 3rd, 2016As I always say (or do now), there just aren’t enough drink names starting with the letter F. And this one only cost me 25p (ignore the can’s printed price point!) for a massive 500ml can. This drink tastes pretty good for a tropical blend – it was sweet, not overpowering at all, and not too sickly which is an important quality for a large can of drink. I’d buy it again, which is rare for me to say about tropical drinks! I’m now keeping my eyes out for other Full On flavours – so far this is the only one spotted in the wild but I imagine there must be an original around too.
Carabao Sugar Free
November 26th, 2016Subtly different to the regular version, the sugar free edition isn’t quite so syrup-tasting but it still has that Thai tang to it.

Carabao
November 12th, 2016This is certainly different. It has a fruity and sweet flavour, nothing like that of Red Bull at all but it does have the medicated tang that you’d expect from say one of the Thai drinks such as Lipovitan, only in a longer carbonated form. Despite finding this in a regular British supermarket, on reading the label my suspicions are confirmed. This is indeed a Thai energy drink (but a British import). It’s nice, it’s different, but it was expensive. Worth a try as a one-off for a taste from the homeland of energy drinks!

Lucozade Zero Orange
September 10th, 2016Finally, a sugar-free Lucozade! Problem is, Lucozade isn’t known for having much caffeine in, so if you remove the sugar too then there’s neither fake nor real energy in this. It’s just fizzy orange. A nice fizzy orange, but that’s all. Zero kick. So far as energy drinks go, no energy is quite original.

Monster Punch Mixxd
September 3rd, 2016Take a berry drink and mix it with a tropical drink and you end up with this. It’s an odd blend but somehow works. A large can and full of sugar but nice to drink.

Relentless Passion Punch
July 2nd, 2016The can design is one of the boldest on the shelves and certainly doesn’t put you in mind for the flavour it contains. Passion Punch is mostly tropical, but on the sweet and smooth side of your taste buds. As usual, a 500ml can full of sugar is hard going (think fluffy teeth after drinking this!) but it’s not too sickly.

Oxxo
June 18th, 2016Nope, it doesn’t taste like gravy and it isn’t thick and brown. It’s just a cheapo tasting clone with a bitter tang to it. Drinkable, but quite definitely budget.

Rockstar Freeze Pineapple and Coconut
June 11th, 2016I thought this was going to be pretty awful, but it wasn’t quite as bad as I had suspected! The pineapple flavour is subtle, as is the coconut. They’re both there and you can distinctly taste them, but there’s a cool refreshing and sweet drink to be had here. A large can makes it quite sickly, but that might be due to the high sugar content. It’s certainly worth trying once and full marks for originality.
Oxxo Elder-Mint
June 4th, 2016I guess that mint flavoured drinks are pretty original. I’ve tasted the Black Mojito before and it’s not too dissimilar. Yup, it’s just wrong! It’s lower in caffeine levels than most drinks (21mg/100ml) but that’s assuming you even get that far through the drink without gagging. Mint? In a soft drink? Weird.
