Monster Hydro Mean Green
September 16th, 2017Not sure I liked this much. It was still and very refreshing, but quite tart and tropical. I’d have preferred something a bit more lemonade-like, but having said that it was a change from the usual fizzy energy drinks.

September 9th, 2017Considering this says it’s a product of Thailand, I’m disappointed. Usually Thai energy drinks are something special, something unusual, but this drink was strange and odd tasting. It is sickly and very sweet with an odd aftertaste.

Spam: The Big Edition
September 2nd, 2017This is an odd brand image. Named “Spam”, I’m unsure if it’s anything to do with junk mail, pork products, or a reference to Monty Python. The slogan is “Living on the Edge”, and there’s a seemingly random picture of a fly above. Makes no sense to me! So far as the taste goes, there’s something a bit cream-soda like about it which is nice at first, but the aftertaste turns bitter and lingers a bit too much

Monster Energy Lewis Hamilton 44
August 26th, 2017I think this variant is actually just titled ’44’, but with a Lewis Hamilton name-based endorsement thrown in the mix. I think what Monster have is a generic ‘sponsor endorsement’ recipe that they bring out with a special can design every once in a while because this tasted just like the can of Monster Energy: Gronk which I tried whilst on holiday in the USA (Gronk being an American footballer…). Well, Americans probably don’t know who Lewis is as much as us Brits are unfamiliar with American footballers, so I guess it makes sense to use a different personality in each country! As I described in the other review, it tastes nice, but it’s just a slightly tweaked version of the regular Monster Energy drink.

April 8th, 2017A large can of clone-style energy drink. Nothing particularly special about it, but it’s sweet, not too sour or sharp, but definitely budget.

February 18th, 2017Now this is a strange one that I can’t quite identify the flavour of. I think it’s mixed berries, and I’m sure I can taste blackcurrants in there somewhere. It’s nice, it’s quite a mild and watered down flavour, and there is something quite medicated about the taste too – along the lines of Calpol!

Rockstar Revolt Killer Citrus
February 11th, 2017It packs a pretty good punch for a sugar free energy drink. Taste-wise, it’s almost tropical as opposed to lemon/orange, but it’s not overly tart and has a nice smooth flavour.

Boost Energy Tropical Guango Sugar Free
December 31st, 2016Sharp and sweet, very fruity and difficult to tell that it’s a sugar-free drink. They’ve made the can a bit funky with multi-coloured fire patterns all over it and called it limited edition.

Volcaz
December 17th, 2016WHOOP! It’s the 400th energy drink to be reviewed on this site! Sadly, it’s not a special drink though. With a name like Volcaz and discovered in the Polish (as in the country, not the cleaning product) aisle of Tesco, this drink seems to have been made in Hungary. It’s just a clone, but a nice and sweet one with no bitter aftertaste.
