Tornado: Ice

December 5th, 2015

Honestly, I had to look up this drink on their web site in order to find out what flavour ‘Ice’ is. It turns out that it’s Grapefruit and Lemon, so it’s no wonder I couldn’t guess the combination. (Note: I’ve realised that the can actually mentions this too, I should have looked more closely!) It’s tangy and fresh, quite nice, but very sweet. The can also has the lift and slide style re-sealable can which is tricky to use.

Monster Rehab Peach Tea + Energy

November 28th, 2015

This drink contains two flavours which disagree considerably with my taste buds, namely peach and tea. Fortunately the tea taste is not so prominent, but the peach is strong and sickly. It’s also a non-carbonated beverage which seems to add to the sickliness. I can’t recommend this.

Monster Ultra Blue

November 14th, 2015

I can’t figure out what flavour this drink is. There are definitely citrus notes to it, possibly slightly tropical, but it’s certainly not the blueberry burst I was expecting. It’s quite sickly after a while, so not that refreshing, and has a certain Mountain Dew “White Out” taste to it.

Monster Ultra Sunrise

November 7th, 2015

Orange flavoured, I think. It’s a really light and fresh flavour, which is definitely in the citrus zone. It’s very much like a flavoured water which makes it refreshing and thirst quenching. With zero calories, it’s also less likely to damage your diet too. Probably the most unusual thing about this drink though is the textured can. While you are drinking it, the nobbly bobbly lumps all over the can give you quite a good grip on it and certainly assure you of a quality product.

Spartan Original Zero

October 10th, 2015

Pretty much the same as the full fat edition, it tastes like No Fear, which is not a bad thing at all. A nice large can of a nice low calorie drink.

Gangster

September 5th, 2015

Interesting branding… it’s clearly a cheap clone, and it tastes watery but very sweet by comparison to others, but the brushed silver can with black detailing does give it a premium look. I have to say though that the name ‘Gangster’ is unlikely to ever become a mainstream brand!

Spartan

August 1st, 2015

For Honour. For Glory. For Victory. But not, as it seems, for Sparta. It tastes okay, in fact it tastes an awful lot like No Fear energy. As a consequence, I’m considering it a clone, but not quite a clone of Red Bull. It’s a large can and very sweet, but for the 39p this cost me it’s not bad at all.

Relentless Mango Ultra

July 4th, 2015

Wow, a big can of fruity juiceness. Relentless have managed to get the balance just right – it’s slightly tropical in taste, but neither artificial or sharp. It’s very fruity so gets a little sickly towards the end of the can, but nowhere near as bad as other similar flavours.

Monster Ubermonster

June 25th, 2015

From the design of the can and the ‘brew’ tagline, along with the specifically mentioned ‘non-alcoholic’ statement, I really expected this drink to taste like non-alcoholic beer. I was very wrong – it tastes like a smooth version of normal Monster Energy. There’s a lot of this drink in the can, but fortunately it has the ‘No Fear’ style re-sealable can design so you can easily save it for later, and despite being carbonated, it’s not *too* carbonated so you won’t notice it going flat if you do save some for later. It’s apparently brewed (instead of mixed up like a normal drink?) using proprietary German technology. Vorsprung durch energy drinks.
