Rockstar Pure Zero Fruit Punch
February 5th, 2014Yay! It’s another drink that tastes like a Swizzels Matlow Double Dip! I love it, it’s a very synthetic and sugary tasting mixed fruit drink which fizzes itself down, yet contains only 4 calories per 100ml. Rockstar do seem to put in a lot of effort with their non-standard energy drink flavours and their range contains many of my personal favourites which includes this one. Even a lot of effort has gone in to the can which oozes quality with its dual texture surface.

No Fear Tropical Storm
February 1st, 2014No Fear is generally one of my favourite brands of energy drink, not only for the flavour but also for the originality of a re-sealable can. The two newest additions to the range, Blue Storm and Tropical Storm, do not feature this latter unique selling point unfortunately. Whilst I enjoyed Blue Storm, Tropical Storm was sadly nothing special. It’s a sharp and sweet tropical drink which tastes much the same as any other tropical flavoured energy drink. Still, if you like that sort of thing then you get a lot of drink for your money so far as premium brands go.

Boost Sugar Free
January 22nd, 2014I finally found Boost Sugar Free, but it’s not in a can. A 500ml bottle is all I could get hold of, and I really prefer to review 250ml can editions if at all possible. That said, it’s a nice yet unoriginal clone. Best chilled, of course, because being in a bottle it warmed up quite a bit by the time I’d got to the second half.

Blue Spark Mixed Fruit Sugar Free
January 11th, 2014Really good! Nice and fruity, cheap, and low calorie too. I highly recommend this drink for something different to the usual array of supermarket own brands. It’s not too fizzy, not too sweet, not too bitter – just right. Go get a can right now…

Asda Blue Charge Mixed Fruit
January 8th, 2014Take a packet of Starburst. Munch the whole lot, taking special care to get extra juicy flavour out of the blackcurrent ones. Now savour the aftertaste of all those sweets mixed together because that’s what this Mixed Fruit flavoured drink tastes like. It only seems to come in a large 1 litre bottle for some reason… maybe I’m just not looking hard enough. The taste is okay though and it’s pretty unique so far as supermarket own brand drinks go.

Asda Blue Charge Diet Summer Fruits
January 4th, 2014Asda are really trying hard with their energy drinks… but not quite hitting the spot. They’re going for variety of range over quality and it shows. Fancy a berry flavoured drink? They have one! Tropical? yup! Diet? Most of them! This is a berry drink, and it is sugar free (at least, I haven’t found a non-diet version yet). It’s very strong in flavour – like it is almost 50% cordial! Overall though it’s only average so it gets average scores.

Amp Energy (UK)
December 14th, 2013It’s been a while since I tried the US version of Amp, so I can’t be 100% sure whether or not it tastes the same. It’s quite citrusy, with an almost pear-drop hint at the back of the tongue when you drink it. Now that I think about it, I don’t think it can taste the same as the US version. Looking back at that review I said how smooth the taste was and how similar it tasted to Mountain Dew. I’d have to say that this UK version does not remind me of Mountain Dew despite the logo plastered all over the can. It’s pretty good still, but I have better memories of the US version. I should also mention that whilst this drink is no where near low calorie, it is low by comparison to other similar drinks. With only 26kcal/100ml, it’s considerably lower than most other drinks which average at about 45kcal/100ml

F.E.E.D.
November 30th, 2013Claiming to be Fairtrade where possible, the only ingredient listed as Fairtrade is the sugar, so technically I suppose that counts. It seems to me though to be a gimmick for the sake of a gimmick. Standing for Fair Exchange Energy Drink, F.E.E.D. is just another Red Bull Clone but with a difference – it’s on the sweet side for a clone and does have an unusual taste too. It’s borderline as a clone, but still a clone.
