KX Fiery Sugar Free
April 19th, 2014Just as nauseating as the full fat version with the same fiery aftertaste, much as you might expect from a drink named as such. I can’t tell it’s sugar free from the taste when compared with the sugared version so go and read that review for my full critique.

Superman Energy Drink
April 16th, 2014In theory, this drink should be the best drink ever. It’s officially linked to DC according to the logos on the back, and it’s probably imported from Krypton or at the very least the Fortress of Solitude. Sadly though it tastes just like a cheap Red Bull knock-off. It’s on the sour side with notes of pear drops, but it’s still very much a cheap tasting drink. Shame really, they could have made a brilliant drink with branding like this. Here’s my suggestion: make it bright green like kryptonite, change the flavour to something more fruity, and brand it as an antidote to kryptonite… just a suggestion. Right, anyone seen a Batman energy drink?

Rockstar Juiced – Mango, Orange, Passion Fruit
April 12th, 2014It might list the fruits on the can, but it really is just a tropical flavour energy drink. Sweet, fruity, mildly refreshing but mostly a bit too sickly for my liking. I still prefer the more artificial flavour of Monster Ripper if you’re going to go down the tropical route.
Red Bull: Zero Calories
April 9th, 2014There are two things I need to say about this drink. Firstly, it doesn’t really taste like Red Bull, and Secondly it is not zero calories! It’s close, at 1.8 calories/100ml, but that’s not ZERO in my opinion. It tastes sharp and tart, but not like the usual smooth Red Bull flavour in the regular or sugar free varieties. I’d go so far to say that I’d class this as a bad clone if I didn’t know better! They’ve chosen a dark grey colour for the can which looks pretty cool, but to be honest for the difference in calorific value of about 6 calories, you’re much better off going for good old sugar free – it tastes like actual Red Bull for starters!

Jaguar Energy Drink
April 5th, 2014Awesome name, plain drink. It’s a clone to be sure, on the sweet side and quite nice, but nothing original. At 99p for a can, it’s also not cheap. At the time of writing, the official web site as printed on the can just redirects to a parked page, but the can is current and in date so I guess they’re still working on the branding.

KX Red Berry Sugar Free

Source Tropical
March 22nd, 2014Meh… just a bland tropical tasting drink really. It’s inoffensive and that’s about as complimentary as I can be. To be honest, Morrison’s have just included this flavour to complete their band-wagon jumping range.
Mixxed Up – Apple
March 15th, 2014Fizzy apple squash, that’s what this tastes like. Very sweet and syrupy like it’s been made from a lot of premix. It’s also in a larger can than normal (330ml) so you get a reasonable kick from it. Good value overall.
KX Sugar Free Citrus
March 12th, 2014More or less the same as the full-fat version – I couldn’t even taste the usual chewy sweeteners. You might as well go for the sugar free version and spend the remaining calories on a chocolate bar as far as I’m concerned because the taste was almost identical.
