POSI+IV – Strawberry and Lime
September 12th, 2015I had high hopes for this, but it turns out that strawberry and lime do NOT go together that well – in this instance at least. It was like a badly mixed cocktail.

Lucozade Energy Strawberry
June 28th, 2014It tastes like those foamy strawberry sweets you get, as in, more like sour sugar than actual strawberries. It’s very high in sugar and very low in caffeine so don’t expect it to quench that addiction, but it is perfectly drinkable and certainly different from anything else out there.

Rip It – Red Zone
March 5th, 2014Mmm strawberries. I have to be honest and say that I was expecting a much stronger strawberry taste, but that would probably lessen the appeal to the masses making it a bit too sickly. Rip It Red Zone has struck a nice balance, it’s got the nice strawberry flavour I like but it isn’t too overpowering and sickly. The background flavour is the same as the Rip It Shot of the same variety only without the bitterness you get with energy shots. Caffeine-wise it is one of the lowest in the range at 35.4mg/100ml but it is still much higher than most UK energy drinks! The drink is obviously a bright pink colour (red food colouring?) to associate it with strawberries even further.

Lucozade Revive – Strawberry and Lime
June 29th, 2013The strawberry and lime combination don’t work for me. The strawberry suffers from the sharpness of the lime, and the lime suffers from the chewy flavour of strawberry. There’s also not enough caffeine in this to be of any use in quenching my caffeine addiction so it’s little more than a thirst quencher. Original in flavour, I’ll give it points for that, but the execution isn’t as nice as the bottle looks. *Note, I’ve estimated the caffeine content as the product contains too little for them to mark it as high and state the actual content.

Pink Bolt Zero
July 27th, 2012Do you see what they did there? They took ‘Blue’ and replaced it with ‘Pink’ cuz it’s a pink drink, so funny, the marketing department at Sainsbury’s must’ve been in stitches over that for hours… <end of sarcasm>. As a drink though, it’s rather bland. There’s a nice taste of strawberry and kiwi in there somewhere, but it’s so watered down that you don’t get enough of the flavour coming through. That said, it’s refreshing and light.

Mountain Dew Supernova
October 19th, 2011I love Mountain Dew, so it’ll come as no suprise that I like Supernova. This variety is pale pink, as all Mountain Dews need a unique colouring, and tastes of strawberry. It also has melon flavouring but I couldn’t notice that coming through the strawberry. It’s a light and refreshing flavour, perfect for the summer and only available imported from the US as a limited edition so grab it quick!
