Red Bull – The Orange Edition
March 26th, 2016It’s certainly a different take on orange flavoured energy drinks. It’s sweet but not strong or sickly. The taste is quite definitely orange, but not watered down either. I think they’ve struck a good balance of flavour. When compared to something like Lucozade, it’s not as sharp, fizzy, or sickly. When compared to one of the other ‘own-brand’ orange energy drinks, it’s much smoother and refined. You can’t taste that it’s a Red Bull product, but you can certainly tell that it’s a premium product.

Monster Ultra Sunrise
November 7th, 2015Orange flavoured, I think. It’s a really light and fresh flavour, which is definitely in the citrus zone. It’s very much like a flavoured water which makes it refreshing and thirst quenching. With zero calories, it’s also less likely to damage your diet too. Probably the most unusual thing about this drink though is the textured can. While you are drinking it, the nobbly bobbly lumps all over the can give you quite a good grip on it and certainly assure you of a quality product.

Tantrum – Bloodorange
September 19th, 2015It’s like a sherbet orange flavoured drink in a bright pink can. The writing on the can is predominantly in Germany, and even Google Translate struggles with the tag-line of “Die Limo Mit Bums”, which apparently means “The Limo With Bums”… I’m sure that’s not correct. It’s a nice drink though, something a bit different, and it gets extra points for calling itself Tantrum in what appears to be a non-ironic way.

Duff Energy Drink
April 11th, 2015Given the brand of this energy drink, does anyone really care what it tastes like?? Well, I guess if you’re not just buying it for a souvenir can then you may wish to know… it tastes like orange Lucozade. That’s all! It’s obviously a lot higher in caffeine but lower in sugar than Lucozade, but the flavour is near identical. If Barney drank this he wouldn’t speak so slowly.
Oshee Vitamin Energy Formula: Vitamins + Minerals
November 29th, 2014It’s original alright – it doesn’t appear to have any added caffeine over the guarana extract. It tastes okay, it has no strange side effects, but it doesn’t give you the expected energy kick. It has tons of sugar in, so is not really aimed at the health conscious either which begs the question: just who is this drink aimed at anyway?

Boost Energy Orange and Mango
October 18th, 2014It’s a middle of the road tropical drink. I managed to drink the whole can, so that means it wasn’t to sour or sharp. It was, however, very sickly, and a large 500ml can like this was far too much in one go.
Nutri1st 3in1 Sports Drink Orange
April 26th, 2014It’s a clever idea – jump on the bandwagon of protein drinks by producing an energy drink with added protein. The 3in1 on the bottle refers to the combination of protein, carbohydrates and caffiene, and the drink is clearly marketed at the gym-going type. The taste, sadly, is not up to scratch. The orange is very bitter and not at all refreshing. If I were drinking this after a gym session, it wouldn’t help my stomach at all. Alsom if it’s protein you are after then you should probably go for an actual protein shake or protein bar – this drink contains less than 2g of protein.
Rockstar Juiced – Mango, Orange, Passion Fruit
April 12th, 2014It might list the fruits on the can, but it really is just a tropical flavour energy drink. Sweet, fruity, mildly refreshing but mostly a bit too sickly for my liking. I still prefer the more artificial flavour of Monster Ripper if you’re going to go down the tropical route.
