Monster Reserve: Orange Dreamsicle
June 29th, 2024Orange seems to be making a bit of a come-back for 2024 and I’m seeing a few new orange-flavoured drinks around. This Orange Monster is really quite a smooth tasting drink. The orange flavour is mellow without any sharp edges but not weak – it’s almost like a slightly creamy tasting orange (weird, huh?) but it works well.
Monster Reserve: White Pineapple
June 22nd, 2024I’m not usually a fan of pineapple. Don’t get me wrong, I love the flavour it adds to the lemon chicken sauce at my local Chinese takeaway, but on its own as a single flavour I’m not that keen. But… Monster have taken just the sweet top-notes of pineapple flavouring for their White Pineapple drink. This drink is sweet and smooth with no tangy or bitter taste at all. The description says it’s “white pineapple” also known as “sugarloaf”, so perhaps it’s this particular type of pineapple which gives it this smooth flavour rather than the regular varieties I’ve tried as actual fruit? I don’t know, I’m not a pineapple expert. Anyway… really worth a try if you can find a can of this.
Let’s Get Ready To Rumble Sugar Free
June 15th, 2024In a surprise twist the sugar free version of this drink tastes totally different to the full fat version! It’s still quite watery, but instead of the tangy caramel, it’s a more subtle fruity flavour. Sweet, but no dodgy aftertaste and very drinkable.

Let’s Get Ready To Rumble
June 8th, 2024Helping Michael Buffer (famed ring announcer) earn a bit more cash from his famous catchphrase, Let’s Get Ready To Rumble Energy is a licensed product which is sadly nothing more than a cloned energy drink underneath. The flavour is watery with notes of caramel. Perfectly nice to drink but it’s the same as many other promotionally branded drinks. In fact it’s made by RBM who also manufacture Furocity.
Reign: Mang-o-Matic
May 11th, 2024It’s the “health” brand of Monster back again with a new tropical-style drink flavoured with mango. Yeah, it’s a large can, tastes of mango, gives you a big hit of caffeine. Sadly nothing more special than that though – a premium prices tropical energy drink.

Kong Strong Colossus
April 6th, 2024It’s been so long since I tried Lidl’s Kong Strong so I honestly can’t tell if this large can ‘Colossus’ drink is actually the same as the the smaller can, I think I’ll have to go and get one of those to compare. Anyway, this drink reminds me of the early days of energy drink clones… it’s sweet, slightly tangy, and quite different to Red Bull. I’d say it’s quite close to Monster Energy actually, very, very close in flavour!
Furocity Champion
March 30th, 2024It’s a bedazzlingly gold can which sadly doesn’t give off the premium vibe that I think it was trying to go for. Rather, it looks more like the one-off budget brands you pick up in the pound stores which are trying to be shiny and bright to grab your attention. As drinks go, it’s not bad though – a very sweet tropical flavoured one that’s not too sickly even in this 500ml large can.
Bang: Candy Apple Crisp
March 23rd, 2024I’m still not that keen on apple-flavoured drinks. I guess this one isn’t too bad, but it is quite sickly after a while. It’s basically fizzy apple squash, I’m not sure what the ‘candy’ part is, perhaps that’s just marketing. On the other hand, it’s pretty potent for caffeine so it’ll definitely wake you up!

Bang: Rainbow Unicorn
March 16th, 2024The fragrant taste of the world’s finest juiced unicorns combined with a spectral blast of rainbows. Maybe. Well, there’s no actual clue on the can as to what flavour this drink really is so I’m going to have to make a guess. I think that it’s strawberry, but with a twist of vanilla.
