No Fear Citrus Storm
March 28th, 2015I found this drink in Carrefour in Spain, complete with a UK price marked can and Spanish nutrition stickers. It was quite nice, but a bit too sweet if comparing it to other lemon/lime energy drinks. I’d place it somewhere in the middle, but Relentless probably has the lead at the moment in the citrus drinks league table. But having said that, it was perfectly adequate overall.

Emerge Citrus Mist
September 13th, 2014I really like this. It’s like a rip-off of Mountain Dew, only smoother in flavour. When I opened the bottle, it make a satisfying ‘tsskk’ sound, and a gentle mist actually started flowing from the opening like an early morning scene in a BBC costume drama. Very dramatic for such a budget drink!
Monster Energy The Doctor (VR46)
July 2nd, 2014This drink is intended to honour MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi, whose nickname is apparently “The Doctor”. This is all very confusing to me as the only person who should sport that name owns a TARDIS. Oh well, on with the drink itself. It’s described as citrus flavoured, and I guess that orange is a citrus fruit – I was expecting something a little more on the lemon and lime side of things though! It’s very orangey, but that’s not bad because it’s still quite nice. Even the large quantity of drink you get in this large can doesn’t get too sickly, so they’ve managed the balance just right.

KX Sugar Free Citrus
March 12th, 2014More or less the same as the full-fat version – I couldn’t even taste the usual chewy sweeteners. You might as well go for the sugar free version and spend the remaining calories on a chocolate bar as far as I’m concerned because the taste was almost identical.

Amp Energy (UK)
December 14th, 2013It’s been a while since I tried the US version of Amp, so I can’t be 100% sure whether or not it tastes the same. It’s quite citrusy, with an almost pear-drop hint at the back of the tongue when you drink it. Now that I think about it, I don’t think it can taste the same as the US version. Looking back at that review I said how smooth the taste was and how similar it tasted to Mountain Dew. I’d have to say that this UK version does not remind me of Mountain Dew despite the logo plastered all over the can. It’s pretty good still, but I have better memories of the US version. I should also mention that whilst this drink is no where near low calorie, it is low by comparison to other similar drinks. With only 26kcal/100ml, it’s considerably lower than most other drinks which average at about 45kcal/100ml

Rip It – Citrus X Sugar Free
August 24th, 2013As with the full-fat version, I wasn’t too impressed with this drink. The sharp orange taste is just too overpowering. There are many other flavours in the Rip It range, so spend your money on those instead.

LSV Citrus Blast
August 15th, 2013Another string to the LSV bow, this time it’s citrus. Specifically, it tastes like lime and quite a strong mix of lime flavour too. Nice, but in large quantities I’d imagine it to be very sickly. If they did a sugar-free version of this drink though I’d drink it loads more because I enjoyed it.
Boost Citrus
July 27th, 2013Pretty good especially for the 20p I paid for it! It basically tastes like soda and lime, sweet and refreshing. It went down pretty easy, I could have drunk a couple in succession. Quite unusual for a ‘special flavour’ version of a budget energy drink – usually you get a tropical and berry, but citrus / lime is refreshingly different.

KX Citrus
May 25th, 2013Sharp and refreshing, I liked it although it isn’t in my top 5 citrus energy drinks. It’s certainly one of the better KX offerings – the original flavour I don’t like much any more, but this is nothing like that.
