Prime Energy Strawberry Watermelon
December 9th, 2023I couldn’t taste the watermelon, but I could taste the strawberry. Do you know what? This is basically pink lemonade, like you get in the Irish supermarkets, but obviously with a massive caffeine hit. It’s nice and refreshing, just like pink lemonade is.

Red Bull Winter Edition (2023) / The Ruby Edition: Spiced Pear
December 2nd, 2023I’ve seen many annual updates of the summer edition of Red Bull but this is the first winter edition I’ve come across. The spiced pear flavour is a bit like pear drops mixed with cinnamon and I was expecting something tart and sickly. Instead I was very pleasantly surprised as this was a subtle flavour and really easy to drink. I’d definitely have this again!
Protein Dynamix Dynamo Booster Shot – Cola
December 2nd, 2023As with all shots, the flavour is intense and bitter. It’s undoubtably cola flavoured, but not in a pleasant way! This is designed to give you a quick liquid shot of caffeine as fast as possible. It packs in 200mg of caffeine actually, which is a lot – keep in mind a can of Red Bull is 80mg, so you’re downing two and half cans equivalent. Please, please remember that and don’t follow it with a chaser of Monster!
Dark Thunder Ultra Berry
November 25th, 2023I’m wondering if this ‘ultra berry’ flavour replaces the ‘berry boost’ variety? It’s been so long since I tried berry boost that I can’t remember quite what it was like. I described it in my review as ‘like a mixture of strawberry and raspberry’, so perhaps Ultra Berry is a very different flavour. It’s more like a mixed berry, but on the sweet and summery side – I got blackcurrant in there, maybe some cherry and raspberry too.

Prime Energy Ice Pop
November 18th, 2023It tastes exactly like the non-caffeinated version – mostly like sugary sweet cherry fizzy stuff. Maybe there’s other flavours in there too apart from cherry, like if you took a bag of Haribo, melted it down and tried to drink the mix of sugary random fruity fizzy gunk. It’s nice, not that refreshing given its overpowering sweetness, but certainly original.

Dark Thunder Ultra Violet
November 11th, 2023A really nice and smooth grape-flavoured energy drink. It’s lower in caffeine than many other large-can drinks, which I think is no bad thing really. You get to enjoy the drink for longer without getting too jittery by the end! The flavour isn’t too strong, but very smooth as I said and no bitterness at all. A great addition to Aldi’s line of Monster-wannabee drinks.

October 28th, 2023Yup, it’s cloudy lemonade. There’s a slight craggy aftertaste from the sweeteners but apart from that it’s a nice classic lemonade flavour. Slightly tangy taste, on the bitter rather than sweet side but nice and unique.

Oshee Futuryx Lab Booster – Wild Strawberry-Apple
October 21st, 2023The strawberry’s not only going to be wild, it’ll be livid 🙂 Not as bitter tasting as I thought it would be – usually shots are very sour and bitter. This one, whilst still on the sour side, mostly tasted of concentrated apple. There was a slight strawberry aftertaste but it’s pretty much apple all the way down. Not as highly caffeinated as many other shots, which is a good thing because a lot of them are trying to pack 200mg into a 60ml drink and that’s ridiculous. This is a more sensible 100mg dose, so only slightly more than a regular 250ml can of energy drink would contain.
