Emerge Active8 Water: Yuzu
November 18th, 2017I’ve never heard of Yuzu, let alone seen or tasted one. I reckon if I can find some I’d like them! This drink is reeeally nice! I was expecting it to be quite watery, like a really dilute squash, but I was wrong. It’s balanced just right, slightly sparking and very refreshing. It tastes like a less-tart lemon, with a light citrus flavour. definitely not tropical tasting, but smooth and lemony. This drink is aimed at sportspersons, with added magnesium for alledged protein synthesis… I suggest you do your own research on that :).

Moose Juice: Green Apple
November 11th, 2017Again in the Moose Juice range, I’m really not seeing the point. They’re aimed at gym goers with their added BCAAs and low calorie content, but being in a large can they’re not easily sippable – you have to drink the whole thing in one sitting unless you go to the hassle of decanting to a bottle. They’re also expensive compare to rival energy drinks, and contain ingredients (the BCAAs I mentioned) that you’re likely to have put in your post gym protein shake anyway. It tastes good and has a nice caffeine hit, but overall it’s difficult to see where it fits in a routine.

Moose Juice: Mojito
November 4th, 2017Normally Mojito flavoured drinks fill me with dread. They tend to be sickly and downright weird! That lime and mint combo just does nothing for me. But, this one was surprisingly ok. Only ok mind, especially given the high cost of this drink. It’s aimed at the gym going population with added BCAAs to help with that all important protein absorption, and is of course low in calories.

Moose Juice: Berry
October 28th, 2017I generally like the berry energy drinks – each one tends to taste very different depending on which berry they’ve chosen to base it around. In this instance I was quite surprised – I think it’s like a sherbet cherry flavour. It’s really sweet and tangy, and very nice especially on the scorching hot day I tried it on. It has a slightly higher caffeine content than most drinks, and also includes the body-builder’s favourite BCAAs if you like that sort of thing.

Monster Hydro Manic Melon
October 7th, 2017Not a fan of this one sorry Monster. It tastes to me like a really weak melon squash. I mean seriously weak and watery. Perhaps the weather needed to be warmer to enjoy it, but all I could think about was, this needs more pre-mix in it! Probably would be nicer if the flavour was stronger.

Rockstar Beach Blend

Monster Hydro Mean Green
September 16th, 2017Not sure I liked this much. It was still and very refreshing, but quite tart and tropical. I’d have preferred something a bit more lemonade-like, but having said that it was a change from the usual fizzy energy drinks.
Carabao Green Apple
September 9th, 2017Considering this says it’s a product of Thailand, I’m disappointed. Usually Thai energy drinks are something special, something unusual, but this drink was strange and odd tasting. It is sickly and very sweet with an odd aftertaste.

Spam: The Big Edition
September 2nd, 2017This is an odd brand image. Named “Spam”, I’m unsure if it’s anything to do with junk mail, pork products, or a reference to Monty Python. The slogan is “Living on the Edge”, and there’s a seemingly random picture of a fly above. Makes no sense to me! So far as the taste goes, there’s something a bit cream-soda like about it which is nice at first, but the aftertaste turns bitter and lingers a bit too much
