For only 25p, you can’t expect too much! This was a high calorie energy drink with a very strong flavour to it. The watermelon taste was sickly and with a slight bitter tang to it, it was quite difficult to finish the can really even on a hot day.

I love lemon energy drinks… regular readers will know that already. This one is super-high with caffeine (55mg/100ml) in a medium-sized can (330ml) so packs quite a punch. Added BCAAs for that unneeded post-workout hit combine with a low calorie count to deliver a curious combination (I won’t rant about energy drinks aimed at serious gym-goers again), but it is very easy to drink and highly refreshing.

A slightly disappointing tropical drink. After trying the cherry & pomegranate flavour first, I had high hopes for this one. Sadly it didn’t live up to those expectations. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad tropical drink at all, it’s just nothing special.
And the second Monster flavour of the year (2021)… this time it’s another tropical one but in sugar-free form. Ultra Fiesta is a mango flavoured beverage in a large 500ml can. It’s mild and refreshing, and easy to drink due to the lack of sugar making it less sickly than full fat versions.

This is the first of two new Monster flavours I’ve discovered so far this year (2021). It looks like Monster have decided that tropical flavours are the way forward – I know it officially says it’s nectarine and peach, but it just comes across as a refreshing and mild tropical drink. Loads of sugar, plenty of caffeine, a decent wake-up hit.
Take Dr Pepper, bung some caffeine in it, and market it as an energy drink… and there you go! It really is just Dr Pepper but not suitable for children. There’s nothing else quite like Dr Pepper, so it does obviously have to get full marks for originality. They haven’t skimped on the sugar either, so you get a full kick out of this can. There is one caveat here though: this is a US import and not available in the UK apart from specialist import sites.
Welcome to summer 2021 (well, at the time of writing it’s only spring!), and welcome to another Red Bull summer edition. This year they’ve given us “Cactus Fruit”. I’d no idea what to expect from this flavour at all, but it turns out that it’s just a refreshing tropical drink really. It’s smooth and sweet, but nowhere near as sickly as other tropical drinks usually are.

Not bad, but could be better. Orange energy drinks have a habit of being quite sickly, especially when supplied as a large portion like this one. It is sickly, and could be improved by only being in a 250ml can instead, but there are much worse drinks out there! I’m not keen on their naming convention for the flavours either – Overly Orange seems a little childish compared to the more aggressive Warrior branding. I think a simple ‘Orange’ would have sufficed instead of letting the intern loose on the branding.

Amazing! I do love a lemon flavoured energy drink. This one is smooth and refreshing, not too strong or sour/bitter at all. At only 69p it’s a bargain, and it benefits from a slight reduction in calories in order to avoid the UK sugar tax by using a mixture of sugar and sweeteners.
