Amp Energy (UK)
December 14th, 2013It’s been a while since I tried the US version of Amp, so I can’t be 100% sure whether or not it tastes the same. It’s quite citrusy, with an almost pear-drop hint at the back of the tongue when you drink it. Now that I think about it, I don’t think it can taste the same as the US version. Looking back at that review I said how smooth the taste was and how similar it tasted to Mountain Dew. I’d have to say that this UK version does not remind me of Mountain Dew despite the logo plastered all over the can. It’s pretty good still, but I have better memories of the US version. I should also mention that whilst this drink is no where near low calorie, it is low by comparison to other similar drinks. With only 26kcal/100ml, it’s considerably lower than most other drinks which average at about 45kcal/100ml

Black Sun
November 9th, 2013When the can described the product as pineapple flavoured, I was expecting a sharp and sour kick. I was surprised! This drink tasted amazing. They’ve managed to create a sweet pineapple drink which, whilst fruity and refreshing, is not overpoweringly so. Most energy drinks that attempt to sweeten their tropical themed products to avoid the sourness end up with a synthetic flavour – again, this drink avoids that too. This drink is one of my favourites in the ‘trying to taste like a proper fruity drink’ category.
Bullit Orange
October 9th, 2013I’m guessing, given the clue in the name, that this drink was supposed to be orange flavoured. It definitely had a citrus taste to it, but it was more akin to a tropical drink than orange to be honest. I also didn’t get that much of a kick from it despite the regular 30mg/100ml of caffeine in the huge 568ml can. Nah, I’ll not bother with this one again.

Mega Force
October 5th, 2013Big name, big can. This is a Red Bull clone. It’s sweet, nice, and there’s lots of it. Other than that, there’s not a lot more I can say. I always feel bad when I can’t think of anything else to write about a drink, especially when I like it, but there we go – it’s not original but functional.
Rip It – G-Force Sugar Free
August 28th, 2013Again, credit to Rip It for making their sugar-free and regular varieties of drinks taste the same. No chewy feeling from the sweeteners at all in this drink making it just as pleasant as the regular G-Force. Other than that, identical to it if a little lower in the caffeine department.

Rip It – Citrus X Sugar Free
August 24th, 2013As with the full-fat version, I wasn’t too impressed with this drink. The sharp orange taste is just too overpowering. There are many other flavours in the Rip It range, so spend your money on those instead.

Rip It – Power Sugar Free
August 21st, 2013I was a little disappointed I have to say. Whereas most energy drinks in my opinion taste better in their sugar-free versions, Rip It have made their full-fat versions so nice that the sugar-free ones fail to equal the taste. It was nice, but not as nice as the normal version so I’d suggest you go for that one instead. Aside from that, it’s the same unique flavour as Rip It Power which you can’t get anywhere else.

Pit Bull Pomegranate and Blueberry
August 17th, 2013Well, it was okay I suppose. To be honest though it was a bit middle-of-the-road. I didn’t hate it – it had no bitterness, no nasty aftertaste. On the other hand it wasn’t fantastic either, it was a bit sweet, fruity, and had an okay caffeine kick, but the flavour just didn’t jump out at me as being amazing or anything special.

Rip It – A’tomic Pom
August 10th, 2013“Tonight make it magnificent, Tonight, Make me tonight, Your hair is beautiful, Oh, tonight, Atomic”. As soon as I saw the can, I couldn’t get Blondie’s song out of my head. The drink, however was not to my taste. That isn’t to say it was awful, because I drank the whole can, but I prefer sweeter flavours and this was a bit too ‘tart’ tasting for me. As pomegranate drinks go it wasn’t as bitter as most can be which is probably why I could manage the whole thing, but the flavour is still there behind the sugar.
