Take the unmistakable taste of Monster Energy, concentrate it slightly into a syrup, reduce the carbonation, and you have M-3! This is a Japanese imported energy drink in a funky little glass bottle and it’s superb! As usual with Asian imported energy drinks, I’ve had to rely on Google Translate for the nutritional information. The bottle also has a little blurb on the label which the translator struggled with. It might say “Drink MP and Smash It” or it might say “Drink M and have a little snack” amongst many other suggestions… either way it’s a smooth and enjoyable energy drink.
The grand-daddy of energy drinks! Lipovitan can apparently lay claim to being the inspiration behind a Thai drink known as Krating Daeng, which in turn is the predecessor of a little known drink called Red Bull. Lipovitan is bright yellow in colour and sold in a small 100ml brown medicine bottle. It tastes very synthetic, almost like the grape flavoured energy drinks popular in the US. It’s non-carbonated, and although high in caffeine per 100ml, it’s overall caffeine content per bottle is about half that of a standard can of Red Bull. It’s unique and works. If you can get hold of this, you have to try it!
