It’s not often I’m disappointed with a Red Bull drink, but this time I was đ I’m not saying it was a bad drink at all, it was quite nice and refreshing, but with this being billed as a ‘lilac edition’ I was hoping for something special, especially with the ‘blossom’ flavouring mentioned. Sadly this drink pretty much just tastes like a tropical energy drink – from the grapefruit I assume. Perhaps the blossom needed to be paired with something gentler in flavour, maybe a very light lemon flavouring, in order for it to shine through. Also, why lilac? It’s not purple in colour inside the can. My brain was expecting something more like grape flavouring rather than grapefruit. Anyway – also available in full fat (if I can find that version to compare), this is very low in calories due to it being the sugar-free version.

A reasonably decent tropical drink branded with the Dragons’ Den star’s now iconic name! Apart from the branding, there isn’t too much that stands out about the product. It was a good price for a large can and contained real fruit juice too which I guess is a bonus.
I don’t know where to place this really. It doesn’t stand out as something special, but I can’t quite figure out the fruits involved either! The can talks about grapefruit, but I’m getting berries, maybe strawberry and other mixed red berries. It’s ok, maybe a bit of a summer drink, but not that refreshing really.

Well itâs supposed to be grapefruit flavoured but to me it tastes like what you get if you mix a cheap clone drink with some tropical energy drink⌠quite an odd combo, but not necessarily unpleasant!

Honestly, I had to look up this drink on their web site in order to find out what flavour ‘Ice’ is. It turns out that it’s Grapefruit and Lemon, so it’s no wonder I couldn’t guess the combination. (Note: I’ve realised that the can actually mentions this too, I should have looked more closely!) It’s tangy and fresh, quite nice, but very sweet. The can also has the lift and slide style re-sealable can which is tricky to use.

What I like about trying different energy drinks are the moments when a flavour sends me back in time. Pit Bull Cranberry and Pink Grapefruit has answered a question I’ve had for many years – When I was 18 and discovered alcohol, there existed a drink known as Red. This was a caffeinated alcopop popular with students around the country at that time with an unknown fruity flavour. For me and my friends this drink was the tipple of choice on many weekends, but we never did find out what the ‘fruit’ flavour of Red was. Well, now I think I have the answer because this particular Pit Bull tastes how I remember Red tasting. It’s a good combination without any bitterness of the other Pit Bull drinks I’ve tried and I’m finally impressed with flavoured Pit Bull.
