This is the other Neuro branded drink to contain caffeine alongside Neuro Trim. This one is aimed at improving your mental agility… mostly it just jerks you straight in to awakeness with its above average caffeine content. The odd shaped bottle does nothing to improve its image either, and the flavour is bizarre. It’s acceptable but not amazing, and given the price of the drink I’d say you are mostly paying for the brain boosting claims and lava-lamp shaped bottle. Probably not worth a second go for me.

An impromptue (and my first ever) visit to Farmfoods as I passed it in Bridgend led to the discovery of the light version of Red Rooster. It’s an improvement (as I find the sugar free versions usually are) on the full fat version as far as taste goes, and the can designers have gone with a minimalist silver design which makes it appear cheaper than it tastes. Incidentally, Farmfoods also sell Mountain Dew Energy in cans too which is the first place I’ve seen it outside of a bottle.

Don’t believe the can… orange indeed. There’s probably some orange in there somewhere but it tastes much more like passionfruit than orange. There’s quite a sharp tropical fruit taste that comes through and it wasn’t as nice as I’d hoped… which is especially annoying given that I was expecting it to be orange! It has a decent kick though given it is full of sugar and caffeine, and it’s not a clone – but I do think it’s false advertising!
This non-carbonated caffeinated drink tastes strange. Not in a bad way I must add, but in an unusual way. It’s very nice but I can’t easily describe the flavour – I’d say it’s slightly fruity, possible citrus of some variety. It’s very smooth and mild in taste but it’s main selling feature is weight loss. The special fibre in the drink apparently swells up once ingested to make you feel full, whilst some other magical compound starts to absorb fat. Honestly, I can’t say I felt full after it because I still managed a burger, hot dog, and fries a couple of hours later. Most importantly though, it tastes good, is low in calories, and wakes you up with a mixture of added caffeine and green tea extract.

Whenever a product includes blackcurrant, it instantly gets overwhelmed with that particular strong flavour. and sadly this has happened here. It tastes like a watered down Ribena which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You can detect other flavours in there, and there’s no sense of this tasting like an energy drink either which for some is a bonus. Extra points for something a bit different, especially in such a budget brand of drinks.

The clue is in the name… water. It tastes like water with a dash of flavouring. Now, at first I didn’t enjoy it because of that wateriness, but about halfway through I realised it was actually quite nice. The tropical flavour is very mild and because of that it’s very refreshing and easy to drink. As for wakey-wakeyness, it isn’t very strong, but it’s certainly original.

Watervit is Boot’s own-brand range of juice mixed drinks under the ‘shapers’ banner of products which appear to be aimed at the health conscious female lunchtime buyers. Refresh & Revive is lemon and lime flavoured but in my opinion tastes like lemon-meringue flavoured Muller Crunch Corner yoghurts – it’s amazing! This is a brilliant drink with average caffeine content that I’d be happy to buy again.

A bog-standard Red Bull clone which tastes sweet and as you’d expect. The main reason for the slightly elevated price-tag compared to other budget drinks is assumedly down to the Boost branding. The cans are attractive and look premium by comparison to the usual range of cheapo clones. Boost is most commonly found in 500ml bottles from my experience, but occasionally you find it in a 250ml can as per the photo attached to this review. If anyone ever sees a can of sugar-free Boost please let me know where you saw it cuz I can’t find it anywhere!
