This was pretty good. Euro Shopper have branched out predictably from their standard Energy Drink offerings to include two new fruity flavours. This one tastes of berries and is generically fruity yet very nice. For 39p, you can’t really go wrong and as with the other Euro Shopper drinks it’s worth a go.
Just like the full-fat version, the sugar free Tesco own-brand drink is watery and lacking in flavour. It’s cheap, but in this price range you’d be better going for for the Aldi, Lidl, or Euro-shopper own-brands.

A rejuvenated effort by Tesco to enter the own-brand energy drink market. Their previous own-brand, Kick / Kx, was quite a bitter tasting drink. This time, they’ve lost the bitterness, but ended up with something quite bland and watery. It’s perfectly drinkable and pleasant, but is lacking in flavour.
Go Fast lists honey as an ingredient, which is a first as far as I am aware – and it’s a winning combination. Very original and tastes great. I can’t say I can taste the honey specifically, but it combines to make an excellent energy drink. There’s a definite energy drink note to the product, but it’s no clone. I hope they launch this in the UK because it was excellent.
I had very high hopes for this drink after trying the normal Cougar Lifestyle Shot. It is billed as being the same flavour and size, but with double the amount of caffeine and all of the other active ingredients. Let’s start with the good points – it wakes you up better than any other shot you’ll find. Sadly though the extra power comes at the cost of taste, and the extremely nice flavour of the original shot has been lost by the taste of all the extra ingredients.

This tastes okay really… still a tad on the bitter side but mostly it tastes like strawberries and sweet fruits of an unknown origin. It packs quite a punch but is also on the expensive side… quite why energy shots cost a lot more than their carbonated more voluminous canned cousins I don’t know. Anyway, touted as ‘fruity’ flavoured, you can certainly buy a lot worse, but it doesn’t make the top half of the list either.

Another nasty tasting bitter orange energy shot! It works well because I was at maximum alertness for a good few hours, but I also couldn’t get rid of the taste during that time either.

This is the other Neuro branded drink to contain caffeine alongside Neuro Trim. This one is aimed at improving your mental agility… mostly it just jerks you straight in to awakeness with its above average caffeine content. The odd shaped bottle does nothing to improve its image either, and the flavour is bizarre. It’s acceptable but not amazing, and given the price of the drink I’d say you are mostly paying for the brain boosting claims and lava-lamp shaped bottle. Probably not worth a second go for me.

An impromptue (and my first ever) visit to Farmfoods as I passed it in Bridgend led to the discovery of the light version of Red Rooster. It’s an improvement (as I find the sugar free versions usually are) on the full fat version as far as taste goes, and the can designers have gone with a minimalist silver design which makes it appear cheaper than it tastes. Incidentally, Farmfoods also sell Mountain Dew Energy in cans too which is the first place I’ve seen it outside of a bottle.
