June 18th, 2016Nope, it doesn’t taste like gravy and it isn’t thick and brown. It’s just a cheapo tasting clone with a bitter tang to it. Drinkable, but quite definitely budget.

Rockstar Freeze Pineapple and Coconut
June 11th, 2016I thought this was going to be pretty awful, but it wasn’t quite as bad as I had suspected! The pineapple flavour is subtle, as is the coconut. They’re both there and you can distinctly taste them, but there’s a cool refreshing and sweet drink to be had here. A large can makes it quite sickly, but that might be due to the high sugar content. It’s certainly worth trying once and full marks for originality.
Oxxo Elder-Mint
June 4th, 2016I guess that mint flavoured drinks are pretty original. I’ve tasted the Black Mojito before and it’s not too dissimilar. Yup, it’s just wrong! It’s lower in caffeine levels than most drinks (21mg/100ml) but that’s assuming you even get that far through the drink without gagging. Mint? In a soft drink? Weird.

Relentless Zero
May 28th, 2016Relentless energy drinks have had a bit of a design overhaul recently. Gone is the gothic-style line art graphics on the can, and in are loud and bold colours. With that rebranding has come the new Relentless Zero, which is effectively a renamed version of their awkwardly named Relentless Origin Ultra (maybe because it’s easier to understand a ‘zero’ drink will be low calories instead of the wholly non-descriptive ‘ultra’ moniker they used previously. The drink is the same as before so far as I can tell – slightly watery but no strange brewed taste.

Rockstar Pure Zero Guava
May 21st, 2016A fruity and almost tropical tasting drink with zero* (read that as 4kcal/100ml) calories. It’s nice but pretty sickly even when straight out of the fridge. At the time of writing this, Rockstar Energy still haven’t acknowledged any of their Pure Zero products on their UK web site, but if you look at the international US version you can get a taste of other flavours they may be releasing under this label.

Spar Original Energy
May 14th, 2016It’s fake Lucozade! Not orange flavoured, but a generic mix of lemonylimeyoraneycitrussy stuff. Nice, but very high in sugar/calories as you’d expect from this type of beverage.
Emerge – Juicy Berry
May 7th, 2016Yeah I’m pretty sure that Emerge re-brand every week. I can’t keep up with their ‘Dual’ or not ‘Dual’ or whatever branding, and now it appears they have taken their berry flavour and just called it Juicy Berry. I don’t think this is a new drink, but it’s got a new name.
Kruidvat 100% Natural Energy
April 23rd, 2016As per the trend at the moment, this is a Stevia sweetened energy drink providing fewer calories than your regular full fat versions, but many more than your usual sugar free drinks. I think that this is strawberry or raspberry flavour, but can’t be sure It’s nice and refreshing though whatever its flavour is.

NOCCO BCAA+ Citrus
April 16th, 2016Another Swedish purchase, sadly this isn’t actually an energy drink at all. There are barely any calories and no caffeine at all, but I’ve included it on this site as it’s from the same range as the other NOCCO drinks I purchased at the same time. The citrus flavour is pretty good – more like a lime cordial mix than say Sprite, but very good anyway. It certainly tastes a lot better than your usual post-workout protein shake!
