This was brought back from the USA by a friend especially for me, so I feel privileged! It’s completely calorie free, yet you couldn’t tell that from the taste. It’s part of a triple Ultra series of Monster Energy drinks which include a White and Blue edition too. This Red edition tastes like a mixture of strawberries and raspberries and is really rather refreshing. It’s certainly worth a go if you can find a can.

Considerably better than Relentless Origin. It doesn’t suffer from that odd brewed taste of its full fat cousin, and is overall much more palatable. It’s still a bit watery, and not the best Relentless in the range, but it is low in calories. Choose this over regular Origin.

Forget lightning, this is like liquid marzipan. I love it, it’s so different to anything I’ve tried before and it has quite a caffeine hit to it too. This was another import from America, so you’re unlikely to see it in the UK unless your local import shop finds it for you.
Smooth yet sharp, much like the full fat version of this drink. It still tastes like it must be good for you, and it even has the organic and Fairtrade logos plastered all over the can. It firmly fits in the tree-hugging category of energy drinks, but if you want something with street cred wid da kidz, stick to the other brands!

It’s a middle of the road tropical drink. I managed to drink the whole can, so that means it wasn’t too sour or sharp. It was, however, very sickly, and a large 500ml can like this was far too much in one go.
Never underestimate the power to big up yourself. Well, at least that’s what it says on the can. This fruit punch flavoured drink is quite nice actually. Checking out the web site shows that this drink is also available in original and ginger flavours, but I haven’t found them in the shops yet. There marketing also appears to be all about alcohol, with mixer suggestions available for each flavour.

Sharp and sour and really not to my taste. This is another one of those supposedly healthy style energy drinks. I didn’t enjoy it at all to be honest, but if you are the sort of person who is in to juicing then it may appeal to you.

Again, it’s all in the name. I’m assuming that this is a special edition for Valentine’s day or something, but under the covers it is just a pretty bland clone. Slightly watery with a sticky aftertaste, but on the positive side it cost 99p for 6 cans.
I really like this. It’s like a rip-off of Mountain Dew, only smoother in flavour. When I opened the bottle, it make a satisfying ‘tsskk’ sound, and a gentle mist actually started flowing from the opening like an early morning scene in a BBC costume drama. Very dramatic for such a budget drink!
